I really like this improv. Is there any chance that we can get the music sheets? I would really like to learn how to play this song; it's the one song that got me to look for you.

drumdude responds:

I don't know how to read nor write sheet music and unfortunately the hard drive that I recorded to crashed a long time ago. However, probably wouldn't take me too long to relearn and send you a midi file. Just shoot me a pm .

Thanks for the teview

I really liked it. But you said you were dissatisfied with it, maybe you could learn how to use the Program Fruity Loops and make it better there if you have a keyboard that is midi compatible.

drumdude responds:

I think I'm just a bit of a perfectionist haha. This was actually made back when I still used fruity loops (I use Cubase now). Thanks for the suggestion though. And thanks for the review

Brings back some old memories and...

I Can totally relate this to a video game! Not a specific one though but just scenes in my head, the Theme would be a fight to get to the Final Boss with just the Main character who's main weapon would have to be something like a sword.

0:01-0:24 Mission Starts
0:24-1:50 Hundreds of Enemies appear and surround you as you get into an epic fight for your life
1:50-2:00 you stop to rest nearly on you knees gasping for air while looking around at your defeated enemies, you heal yourself and stand up to move on
2:00-2:30 Boss appears and you begin to have a talk and refuse his offer to join him
2:30-3:30 You get into an epic fight with the boss and kill him in an awesome way
3:30-End of song, boss evaporates you wipe the sweat off your forehead and look up to the skies and the credits begin showing fun times your character had in the past with his friends and upcoming battles with your friends behind you but happy and looking for another fun tomorrow.

All this was made off the top of my head and I'm not sure if that helps but This is truly an amazing song!

Back-From-Purgatory responds:

That's actually a very awesome interpretation of the song, kudos! It'd be awesome if someone followed that up with a flash... I've had someone use this song as part of a gun fight on youtube, but I'd love to see it used in this scenario as well!

I'm glad people can listen to my music and come up with stories like that, because I absolutely love hearing how other people interpret my stuff!

Thanks for the review!

You were right!

the simplicity of this song is indescribable by words And i especially like it passing 2:41 Set with the spectrum visualization on, and also how it picks up at 3:02. Nice song though!

Note: (for people who want to try this, click the middle of the screen above the song title and under visualization find and click spectrum and slide the transition thing on the left to 90 then click the middle again to hide it and just listen to it or skip to 3:02)

Back-From-Purgatory responds:

It is quite mesmerizing with the visualization set like that. And yes... I strive for "effective simplicity" as opposed to "technical prowess". I.E. I prefer emotion and soul to skillful playing (To the point of showing off).

Thanks for the review!

Great song!

Hearing this, i picture a video game in my head where the sub main character comes across a burned down village she must and starts looking for survivors but finds only dead or injured characters and sympathizes with the injured and towards the end of the song she goes out in search of whoever did this to see that it never happens again. Later in the game as soon as she reaches the world map she will meet the Main Character and new allies... All that comes to mind hearing this song good job! haha

Back-From-Purgatory responds:

That's pretty close to the emotion I was more or less portraying with the song, was a sense of despair or hopelessness. Granted, it seems a lot of people interpret it as a more happy song, which is fine, I'm not gonna tell people they can't think of my songs the way I originally write them... because that'd just be arrogant.

Regardless, check out the picture this song was written to if you haven't already, the link is in the Author Comments. Or you can't find the newspost on my profile entitled "Darker Than Black". It was posted on Feb. 3, 2011 if that helps you find it.

And again, thanks for the review!

wow...

it hella reminded me of some old games i used to play most of them for gameboy And to rate/review/vote so Perfect 10/10 And 5/5! that's the first time i ever saw this happen

BowserThedestructive responds:

Thanks haha, I guess the automation's sort of just came to me this wasn't the intended outcome of the track but ended up being so after experimenting I love it yeah I guess it does come off has a video game style I did play games growing up so I guess its part of my inner self coming to the surface.

Nice And creepy

At first i thought of a video game i played before, but the song could use a little bit of work it's great overall

BowserThedestructive responds:

Thanks you I see where it needs little bit of work I had a hard time figuring which of the instruments I wanted to stand out so its sort of a mixture.
